Convert - PDF to PNG. Bit Depth doesn't work

Hi,

I use the "Convert - PDF to PNG" connector in Power Automate to convert a scanned image and saved as a PDF file.

I need a grey scale image. I set the Bit Depth parametr = 8. But the output file has 24 bit.

Can the "Convert - PDF to PNG" action change bit depth? Or I should use additional step to reduce the image size, for example "Image - Resize"?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Slava

    Hi Slava,

Thank you for letting us know about this issue.

Unfortunately changing the bit depth to 8 will not change the file to greyscale and the ability to change a colour of a PNG in this Action does not exist currently.

However, the option to change a file to greyscale does exist on the Convert - PDF to JPG action. There is an advanced Parameter called Compression Color Mode which when set to Greyscale will make the output that selected colour type.

If you are ok with the file being a JPG then you could use this action or you can add to the flow a Image - Convert Format action to change the JPG to a PNG.

I have tested both of these options and they can both change a PDF to a greyscale image to the format of your choosing.

You can also add a Feature Request to add the option to Convert - PDF to PNG in the future. I have provided a link to Feature requests below.

Hi Dave, thank you for your detailed reply.

The reason I use PNG is the format keeps better quality, sharp. After converting I send the image to OpenAI.

    I can use also JPG.

Let me check and I'll get back to you.

    Thank you.

    Slava.
